Get paid more as you become
great at what you do.

active, enjoy working independently and like the idea of being
handed a route and trusted to get it done, this could be a great

next to a supervisor all day.
Once you're trained, your route is yours to run.

productive and take care of your customers.
Some of the things our field employees enjoy about
the position include:
-
$27/hour starting pay

$27–$32/hour average compensation after training
-
72˘
per mile mileage reimbursement while running your route.
Candidates can use a car, SUV or truck that is FWD, AWD or 4WD.

customers trash can prior to leaving the customer site.

Join a Company Alaskans Trust!
Alaska Pet
& Yard Services has been serving Alaskans for nearly two decades.
Our
customers have rewarded us with a 4.8-star Google rating from more than
460 reviews.
We're proud
of that reputation because it comes from years of showing up, taking care
of our customers and doing what we say we're going to do.
When you
join our field team, you're not joining a new company trying to figure
things out.
We have an
established customer base, recurring routes, proven systems, training,
experienced field leadership and an office team supporting our
technicians.
You're not
responsible for finding customers or building your own route.
We provide
the customers and the work. Your job is to take great care of them.
Your Day Is Yours to Run!
Once you're trained and comfortable with
your route, you'll spend most of your day working independently.
You'll receive an established route and
travel from customer to customer using your own vehicle. You'll typically
service approximately 30–50 residential properties per day.
At each property, you'll enter the
customer's yard, locate and remove pet waste, dispose of it in the
customer's trash container and move on to your next customer.
We do not transport pet waste in your
vehicle.
Yes, you're picking up dog poop. There's no
reason to dress that part up.
But you're also outside, moving throughout
the day, visiting dogs, running your own route and working without
somebody hovering over you.
For the right person, that's a pretty good
workday!
Get Better
at the Job. Earn More!
Everyone
starts at $27/hour during our approximately 60-day training/probationary
period.
Once
you've successfully completed training, you'll transition to our
performance-based compensation system.
As you
learn your routes, become more organized and develop greater efficiency,
your effective hourly compensation can increase.
Our
trained Route Service Technician II employees average approximately
$27–$32/hour.
Our
compensation system is designed to reward employees who become really good
at what they do.
This
does not mean rushing through customers' yards or cutting corners. Quality
service always comes first.
It means
learning your routes, staying organized, maintaining a productive pace and
consistently providing great service.
Become
great at the job, and your compensation can reflect it.
Actual
earnings vary by employee and are not guaranteed. Performance-based
compensation depends on productivity, organization, physical ability,
route familiarity and consistently completing quality work.
Plus Mileage Reimbursement!
Candidates use their personal car, SUV or truck that is FWD, AWD or 4WD.
Mileage reimbursement is paid in addition to your regular compensation.
Note that we do not transport the bag in vehicles. Bag goes in the
customers trash can prior to leaving the customer site.
We
currently reimburse 72˘ per mile while traveling between customer
services.
Depending on route size and the number of services completed, mileage
reimbursement typically averages approximately $400–$600 per month.
Mileage
reimbursement is separate from wages and is intended to help compensate
for the cost of using your personal vehicle for route work.
All
compensation is paid twice per month.
What Is the Work Like Throughout the Year?
The job
changes with Alaska's seasons, and we want you to know exactly what you're
signing up for.
-Summer & Fall
For most of
our field team, this is the easiest and most enjoyable part of the year.
You'll
service established weekly customers, spend your days outside and enjoy
Alaska's summer weather.
Once you're
familiar with your customers and route, the work becomes pretty
straightforward.
-Winter
Yes, we
work during the Alaska winter.
If you know
how to dress properly for winter conditions, winter route work can
actually be peaceful and straightforward.
Snow and
frozen ground make some yards more physically demanding, and occasionally
you'll need to chip pet waste out of frozen snow or ice.
You'll need
appropriate winter clothing and a vehicle equipped with proper winter
tires (not all season tires).
-Spring Cleanup Season — March through May
Spring is a
completely different animal.
It's our
busiest and most physically demanding time of year.
As the snow
melts, our work becomes similar to spring cleanup for a landscaping
company. There is considerably more walking, raking, shoveling and
physical labor.
Spring is
hard work.
We'd rather
tell you that before you apply than surprise you after you're hired.
The intense
workload is seasonal. Once spring cleanup is completed, we return to our
normal weekly maintenance routes.
Full-Time Availability Requirements
Because
Route Service Technician II is our full-time field position and it pays
more, it requires greater scheduling availability and flexibility than our
part-time Technician I position.
-June through February
Our full-time Route Service Technician II position
requires availability between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. This does not mean you
will regularly work from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Our goal is to keep the
normal workday to approximately 8 hours whenever possible.
During this part of the year, our normal workweek
is Monday through Friday. However, weather, route volume, employee
absences, and other operational needs can occasionally require Saturday
work. We make every effort to limit Saturdays and only schedule them when
they are truly necessary.
Full-time availability means team members need the
flexibility to remain available through the 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM window when
the job requires it. Most days are designed around a normal workday, but
occasionally a day may run longer than expected depending on weather,
route conditions, customer needs, or staffing.
One of the beliefs that drives our culture is
simple: the customer pays our paycheck. Without our customers, none of us
have a job. Because of that, we work as a team to make sure our customers
are taken care of, even when weather, staffing, or unexpected
circumstances require us to adjust.
We also work hard to support one another. The goal
is not to work people unnecessarily long hours. The goal is to have a team
that is flexible, dependable, and willing to help get the job done when
circumstances require it.
That additional flexibility and availability is
one of the primary reasons the Route Service Technician II position pays
more than the Route Service Technician I position. Technician II team
members are accepting a higher level of scheduling flexibility and
responsibility, and the higher pay reflects that expectation.
-March through May — Mandatory Spring Availability
The spring
cleanup season is the busies time of the year for our business.
During the
spring cleanup season, Route
Service Technician II employees are required to be available Monday
through Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM during March, April and May.
If you
cannot maintain Monday–Saturday, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM availability during March
through May, Technician II will not be the right position for you. We
would recommend the part time Route Service Technician I position.
The higher
compensation range for Technician II reflects the greater availability,
scheduling flexibility and commitment required for this full-time
position.

A motor
vehicle record and background check are conducted as part of our hiring

This Job Isn't for Everyone
