Route Service Technician I - Part Time
$25-$30/hr + Mileage Reimbursement

established customer base, recurring routes, proven systems, training,
experienced field leadership and an office team supporting our

You're not
responsible for finding customers or building your own route.
We provide
the customers and the work. Your job is to take great care of them.
Your Day Is Yours to Run!
Once you're trained and comfortable with your route, you'll spend most of your day working independently.
You'll receive an established route and travel from customer to customer using your own vehicle. You'll typically service approximately 20-30 residential properties per day.
At each property, you'll enter the customer's yard, locate and remove pet waste, dispose of it in the customer's trash container and move on to your next customer.
We do not transport pet waste in your vehicle.
Yes, you're picking up dog poop. There's no reason to dress that part up.
But you're also outside, moving throughout the day, visiting dogs, running your own route and working without somebody hovering over you.
For the right person, that's a pretty good workday!

starts at $25/hour during our approximately 60-day training/probationary
period. Once
you've successfully completed training, you'll transition to our
performance-based compensation system. As you
learn your routes, become more organized and develop greater efficiency,
your effective hourly compensation can increase. Our
trained Route Service Technician II employees average approximately
$25–$30/hour. Our
compensation system is designed to reward employees who become really good
at what they do. This
does not mean rushing through customers' yards or cutting corners. Quality
service always comes first. It means
learning your routes, staying organized, maintaining a productive pace and
consistently providing great service. Become
great at the job, and your compensation can reflect it. Actual
earnings vary by employee and are not guaranteed. Performance-based
compensation depends on productivity, organization, physical ability,
route familiarity and consistently completing quality work.
Plus Mileage Reimbursement
Candidates use their personal car, SUV or truck that is FWD, AWD or 4WD.
Mileage reimbursement is paid in addition to your regular compensation. We
currently reimburse 72˘ per mile while traveling between customer
services.
Depending on route size and the number of services completed, mileage
reimbursement typically averages approximately $200–$400 per month. Mileage
reimbursement is separate from wages and is intended to help compensate
for the cost of using your personal vehicle for route work. All
compensation is paid twice per month.
What Is the Work Like Throughout the Year?
The job
changes with Alaska's seasons, and we want you to know exactly what you're
signing up for.
-Summer & Fall
For most of
our field team, this is the easiest and most enjoyable part of the year.
You'll
service established weekly customers, spend your days outside and enjoy
Alaska's summer weather.
Once you're
familiar with your customers and route, the work becomes pretty
straightforward.
-Winter
Yes, we
work during the Alaska winter.
If you know
how to dress properly for winter conditions, winter route work can
actually be peaceful and straightforward.
Snow and
frozen ground make some yards more physically demanding, and occasionally
you'll need to chip pet waste out of frozen snow or ice.
You'll need
appropriate winter clothing and a vehicle equipped with proper winter
tires (not all season tires).
-Spring Cleanup Season — March through May
Spring is a
completely different animal.
It's our
busiest and most physically demanding time of year.
As the snow
melts, our work becomes similar to spring cleanup for a landscaping
company. There is considerably more walking, raking, shoveling and
physical labor.
Spring is
hard work.
We'd rather
tell you that before you apply than surprise you after you're hired.
The intense
workload is seasonal. Once spring cleanup is completed, we return to our
normal weekly maintenance routes.
Part-Time Availability
Must be available five days per week, Monday through Friday for at least 4 hours per day.
Who Does Well Here?
You don't
need experience picking up pet waste. We'll teach you how to do the job.
What we're
really looking for is the kind of person who:
Previous
experience in landscaping, construction, route delivery, property
maintenance, general labor or another physically demanding job is helpful,
but it's not what determines whether you'll succeed here.
We can
teach the job. Reliability, work ethic and self-motivation are much harder
to teach.
Physical Requirements
This is a
physically demanding outdoor position.
You need to
be physically capable of:
You don't
need to be an athlete, but you do need to be physically capable of
performing outdoor manual labor throughout the workday.
Vehicle & Driving Requirements
Because
you'll use your personal vehicle to run your route, reliable
transportation is essential to this position.
Applicants
must have:
Pet waste
stays at the customer's property and is not transported in your vehicle.
A motor
vehicle record and background check are conducted as part of our hiring
process.
